Vehicle Check (בדיקת רכב)
Last Updated: August 27, 2026
The "Vehicle Check (בדיקת רכב)" application (the "App") is developed and maintained by avih6 as a free, ad-supported vehicular information utility. This SERVICE is provided at no cost and is intended for use "AS IS".
The App operates on a strict privacy-first approach: it does not require user account registration, does not maintain remote user databases, and does not collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as personal names, email addresses, phone numbers, or user GPS location data.
NON-GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY DISCLAIMER: Vehicle Check (בדיקת רכב) is an independent utility developed and maintained privately by avih6. The Application is NOT an official government application, does NOT represent, and is NOT affiliated with the State of Israel, the Ministry of Transport and Road Safety (משרד התחבורה והבטיחות בדרכים), the Israel Police, or any governmental agency.
• Public Open Data Source: All vehicular specifications, MOT test validity dates, technical parameters, safety scores, mileage records from previous inspections, and recall statuses presented in the App are retrieved directly from the official Israeli Open Government Data portal (data.gov.il), published under the Government Open Data Framework.
• Direct Public Source Reference: Official government databases may also be accessed directly via data.gov.il - Private and Commercial Vehicles Registry.
When a user searches for a vehicle by license plate number, the App transmits a secure HTTPS query directly to the public API endpoints of data.gov.il. The query is processed ephemerally to retrieve publicly available technical specifications. avih6 does not store, log, or harvest searched license plate numbers on private external servers.
• Camera Hardware Access: The App offers an optional camera-based optical character recognition (OCR) feature to allow scanning vehicle license plates without manual typing.
• Zero Image Storage & Streaming: Optical text recognition is processed 100% locally on the device using Google ML Kit on-device machine vision. The App never records, stores, photographs, streams, or transmits camera images or video feeds to external servers.
The vehicle fault code dictionary (OBD-II / DTC) is stored completely offline inside the local application assets. Searching fault codes is executed 100% on the device hardware without sending diagnostic queries over the internet.
To provide visual context for vehicle models, the App fetches publicly licensed model preview graphics via secure HTTPS connections from the Wikimedia Commons API. No user data is transmitted during image retrieval.
Searched vehicle records and customization preferences (such as dark/light themes) are stored strictly locally in private application storage on the physical device (Room SQLite database). Users can clear their search history at any time using the in-app clear action.
To support the application as a free utility, the App integrates Google AdMob to serve non-intrusive advertisements:

Any download or distribution through third-party websites, APK mirror portals, or unofficial app stores is unauthorized and unmaintained. avih6 assumes no responsibility for modified, corrupted, or potentially harmful APK files obtained outside the official Google Play Store.
Because the App operates without user accounts and stores no personal data on external servers, data control is managed directly on the local device:
Security of user information is prioritized, and commercially reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are employed. However, no method of electronic storage or internet transmission is 100% immune to vulnerabilities, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
The Service is designed for vehicle owners, prospective buyers, and drivers (typically ages 16 and older). There is no intentional collection or solicitation of personal information from children under the age of 13. If it is discovered that a child under 13 has provided personal data without parental consent, please send a notification immediately to the contact email so that the information can be promptly removed.
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically by posting the revised version on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. In the event of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of the application or its service, stored data will remain subject to the provisions of this Privacy Policy.
